The
figure or the human body when experienced as a container
is a rich source of wisdom providing
a model of the duality in which our existence is defined. It contains
two skins, the outer that is apparent to all and the inner that may seem
hidden but is more powerful than can be imagined. It is within the interplay
of the two that a tension is set, and a dance ensues that holds the promise
of transformation. As artist and observer, I am
not only witness to this unfolding but also participant by playing the role
of seer.
The images seen here are a small sampling that
span fourteen years of learning from the body. They are a
record of the slow dissolution of form that can be found in my current work.
Watching the slide show in reverse will clarify this process as do
many of the surface details accompanying the full version of each painting.
